  Dil Ki Kahani

Few years ago, Nirali used to run 'Shvaas' in Ahmedabad and one of their projects was a beautiful audio series called 'Dil Ki Kahani'.  Of the hundred clips that volunteers recorded, below is a sampling of a few of them: Hindi with Intro: Zohar Sir: Naveen: Birva: Rajesh: Gujarati: English:  ... read full story

  Toilet And A Rainbow

Last week I was walking out of Patangyu with Anjali and out of a crack in the fence we spotted a woman limping up the hill from the dumping ground. Her ankle was wrapped in white gauze. A very old, very little woman was trying to help her walk. We went over to see if they needed help. The injured woman had a pained look on her face, squinting from her foot and the heat. She collapsed to the ground as we came over, exhausted from hopping up the hill. We offered to carry her ... read full story

  Nimesh Reflects on Ekatva

Last Wednesday we were treated to a personal, heartfelt, insightful, and inspiring sharing by our own Nimesh Patel on the Ekatva journey. Nimesh immersed himself into this project for the last two and a half years, and what emerged in a very humble and organic way were transformative moments for the 16 slum children, the tour staff members, and himself. From a very personal perspective, Nimesh shares what brought him to Ekatva. The seeds were planted in childhood with his passion for music, ente... read full story

  Being Moved By Madurai

Last week week, sixteen of us participated in a special gathering in Madurai over the weekend. A brief recap of the memorable 3-days is here. Prachi shares beautifully about feelings conjured as we walked the halls of Aravind Eye Hospital: We walked into the hospital on a typical Friday.  Our tour guide... read full story

  Muchos Gratitudos

I love my community. Being in contact with Manav Sadhna provides a richness to daily life that complements regular work in a perfect way. There is always something or other going on; a gathering at Seva Cafe, a volunteer visiting from this place, a group to interact with from that. Last month we hosted Teach for India, a powerful gathering where we heard stories from fellows who spent a day and a night in Ahmedabad with no wallet or cell phone, just Rs.50. Later we hosted Jagriti Yatra,... read full story

  Supply Chain of Service

I randomly wandered intoManav Sadhna the other day and was treated to a remarkable story from Virenbhai. It had to do with the large number of boxes neatly stacked up next to where we sat, in a corner of the main MS hall. Inside the boxes was over a ton (3,200 lbs. to be exact) of top-of-the-line Helix school supplies from the U.S.: pencil sets, rulers, compasses, easels, art kits, sketch pads, paper cutters, scissors, stationery. Easily, it was thousands of dollars worth of merchandise. It&rs... read full story
